Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig 21st September, 1983). 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actor. Particularly, she played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Her parents had divorced and she relocated with her mother in Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's main character the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford's role she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was selected for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear on film more frequently, having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role as Shannon in two more episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. She was in 2013 for Season 6 of Californication. She plays Faith as the muse and fan of the celebrities. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in the films of her father when he was an adolescent. Along with her brother, she was also on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's lead roles in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a drama) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Awards. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercials she appeared in during 2006. In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent earned her nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she was in comedies and dramas, including Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 The other roles she's played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller) and musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
